The Isle of Wight

Bike amidst leaves

And our next trip is... a lap of the Isle of Wight.

Situated off the south coast of England, the Isle of Wight is a popular destination for holidaying Britons and, more appropriately for us, has the perfect circumference for a weekend of cycling.

OK, it's only 100km so three days of Bank Holiday will make for an easy itinerary but then that leaves us time for detours and exploration - two things we are hoping will be regular features of our ride to Australia.

We arrived by ferry last night and will be here until Monday. You can follow our progress on Twitter (Tim here and Laura here).

Last month, we cycled from the south of England to the Scottish capital over two weeks. This is our second "training" trip ("training" because it's not about getting fit or any specific preparation, just a chance to test out a few bits of kit and hone some routines) and may be our last before setting our GPS for Melbourne on August 18th.
