Spork #14: Shelter from the storm

We have been blessed with largely good weather so far on our journey. Cycling and camping is so much easier when the sun is shining, as it means you can cook dinner outside and you don't have to spend the evening huddled in a small tent.

The single exception to our luck with the weather was our last big day of cycling in Switzerland. We woke up in a torrential downpour and it got worse as the day went on. We ended up cycling through tiny villages as it got dark, in a terrible thunderstorm, looking for shelter.

We noticed an abandoned house with a large veranda and were just discussing whether we should stay on its porch for the night when the owner appeared. He unlocked the door and offered us the place to sleep in for the night. It was dusty and run down, but was warm, dry and safe from the storm: very welcome to two drenched cyclists. Our guardian angel must have been looking after us!
